Partner Organization Responses to Pandemic: Code to Inspire
Code to Inspire empowers young women in developing countries to drive economic and social progress by teaching them how to code, find programming jobs and launch technology ventures.
During the COVID-19 pandemic and the total lock down in Herat, Afghanistan the students noticed that many people at home are seeking for doctors who can provide medical advice to them through phone and remotely while they are staying at home. Hakeem is a medium that connects pro bono doctors to patients at home. The Health department in Herat and Ministry of Health offered their support to add more features in the future to include other cities in the app as well.
Code to Inspire was also able to raise donations during the lockdown to purchase monthly Internet packages and rent laptops to students to study from home. 30 students graduated from the coding classes.
