What is FGM/C (female genital mutilation/cutting) and what can we do about

  • Kota Alliance 43 Saint Nicholas Place New York, NY, 10031 United States (map)

Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) affects, it is estimated, 50 000 women and girls in the New York area. Yet it is rarely spoken about. While it is a practice that occurs in communities worldwide, there are some immigrant groups in NYC who come from countries where it is prevalent. We invite people, especially women , from these communities to join us to listen to our panel for accurate information; to have a chance to ask questions about treatment options, and give us their ideas on how to prevent this human rights violation in the future.

Reception with non-alcoholic drinks and snacks after the event. Your donation will help us cover some costs, and improve our capacity to organize similar events going forward. Thank you!
