Women in Politics: Gender Equity and Local Office
On May 23rd we opened our doors in our new home in West Harlem and our inaugural event, Women in Politics: Gender Equity & Local Office. We were delighted to have the house filled to capacity and to have you join our conversation between panelists Fatim Diarra, Kristin Richardson Jordan, Beatrice Sibblies and moderator Adriane Mack. The talking points included for example different ways we can support local businesses, but also future collaboration between Helsinki and Harlem was mentioned.
We didn’t make this event happen on our own, there was a community behind us, and we want to thank all of you! Huge thank you goes to our amazing and charismatic speakers, the talented catering company Miss Mack’s Enterprises for the beautiful American-Finnish menu, Alvohn’s bakery for the most delicious cupcakes, Rabbi Joseph Potasnik for the wine donations and lastly but not least our gracious volunteers! Go check all of their their websites or Instagrams - we’re truly grateful to have so many talented people around us!
Kota, an umbrella organization that provides Knowledge and Opportunities To Advance, works in partnership with like-minded organizations and alongside experts to bring about women's justice through its programming and as collaborative use space. Many thanks for all who joined us as we work together to bring about a more equitable world where women unlock opportunities to achieve their unlimited potential.
In the coming months, we will continue to build out a series of presentations, workshops, and events to shed light on the inequities that women and girls face, as well as present the opportunities that advance women's empowerment both locally and internationally. We look forward to welcoming you back and hope that you will also introduce your circle of friends to our work. Consider supporting Kota’s mission so that we can continue to be a beacon and safe place where women can meet, learn together, and work together. As a non-profit organization, any donations are greatly appreciated and tax deductible. You may donate here.
